Jerry was wiped out by an act of God (The mediteranian fruit fly). To bad, he was hugely popular and had the dream girl friend to distract us all in his favor. The fly got into the country on some imported food and was detected near the bay area. The area guaranteed to protest against any type of urban pesticide spraying. So, Jerry balked. Then the fly started to spread. The San Jauqin valley produce crops (billions) became under eminent threat of complete loss. So then he sprays. To late. The valley people were already very ticked off and when he sprayed the San Francisco area urbanites were outraged. I was driving down the highway and saw speckles suddenly appear on my windshield. I looked up to see the malathion spreader in the sky. The worst possible timing for Jerry. No win situation for him. By the time he ran for Pres. he had lost momentum.
