I warned Lindy Bill and his boys during the campaign that swiftboats against kerry would backfire. Well they snuck thru the election with it--perhaps it even won them the election but that type of nastiness loses middle type basically conservative individuals like me who have departed post election in the hundreds of thousands already. But i find for the most part even more violent left wing folks who also dont want anyone but true believers to support their ideas. For them its swift boats against mike who supported the war and still hopes for a good outcome even if it help the chimp.
EG I discovered the timetable idea in talking to Ed Cynd who is strongly against the war but reasonable. I still think history can judge this war favorably however if we can get the exit strategy done properly. I root for that and liberals and cons should do so as well because it would be good for this country. Some folks on both right and left hold their ideology higher than their country, or their party or their own arrogance at having to be right all the time. That is a tragedy, particularly at a time brave young men and women are dying on the battlefield trying to defend our freedoms EVEN if it is a misguided or wrongheaded effort. Learned that after vietnam when we held their participation against them when they returned. mike
