the 14-year old New Zealand kid discovering a way to solve all of the PC Y2K problems (if it's legit)?

Sounds a bit far fetched... unfortunately most reporters are so non-technical & their editors are so uninterested in the Y2K story that pretty much anything can work it's way into print.

I'd love to be able to do a poll of reporters/editors & see how many of them have ever had to make their living writing programs. Not to put down the sort of very tough work they do (I'd never be able to constantly write words to a deadline), but they just don't seem to grasp the meaning of DETAIL.
