I thought the argument from authority was when you included an authority IN your own argument (an authority other than yourself- for example "Mr. Kissinger says the same thing about this treaty that I say, therefore I am right, because Mr. Kissinger is such a smart guy on foreign policy and HE wouldn't be wrong, so I couldn't be wrong since I am saying the same thing as he would say")- if you are actually an authority, wouldn't that be simply an argument based on education, as opposed to an argument based on ignorance? Me, I'd opt for arguing based on education in a topic, and I guess if I were to include a citation of an authority, I'd want it to be an authority who was an authority because he was educated in a subject- as opposed to being just a famous authority for no very good reason. constitution.org that appears to be fallacy of authority "recognition" Production and Power are also interesting. It's amazing how many of these fallacies crop up every day in the news, on SI, here and there.
