It does seem to me that Ms Young was not speaking of a Christmas tree. Ms Young spoke of Christmas traditions. It seems Ms Young was also upset that any person would think those who attempt to restrict Christmas displays of our National holiday on public property as being un-American. Well in that Christmas is a National Holiday, it seems to me those who are wish to prevent other citizens from celebration with context appropriate displays are quite intolerant and Un-American.

I only see extremism on the part of the scrooge who wish to deny. I did not see extremism in Mr. O'Reilly on this issue of Christmas. Ms young did indeed reveal her ignorance.

Oh and this is one take on the tradition of the tradition of a Christmas tree.

CHRISTMAS TREE
Did you know the tradition of the Christmas tree comes from Germany? The very first trees were oak, the same tree used for the Yule Log. Trees have been a symbol of good luck since the Middle Ages. In Germany, whenever someone would build a house, a small evergreen tree would be nailed to the highest beam. Soon people began bringing the tree inside during Christmastime and decorating it. When German immigrants came to the United States, they brought this tradition with them.
