Over the last few days, a storehouse of wintry cold lately built up over central Canada has spilled open. Friday and Saturday felt cold in the Northeast, Midwest, northern Plains and the Northwest. Sunday, a cold flow from the north and northwest will pour into the heart of the nation, holding temperatures to well below average for early December. For instance, highs only in the teens will be observed in Minnesota, Iowa and Wisconsin with 20s from northern Missouri to Lower Michigan. Such readings are 10 to as many as 20 degrees below average for the date. But this is not the last of this cold snap. The storehouse itself will break loose from its Canadian stronghold following another cold front; this bitter cold will fan out southward and eastward over much of the nation Tuesday through Thursday.
