Both sides contribute to the problem. A family member worked in the automotive industry (in a non-union job). He told of a union guy who got paid $100 grand for driving a fork lift. Now, of course, that job went away because the product became unprofitable. My guy, on the other hand, worked 60 hours a week routinely while other execs, including the plant manager, worked 9 to 5. He finally got disgusted and quit. They hired him back under contract with a much reduced job responsibility. They hired two other guys to do the rest of what he had been doing.

Some management is stupid. Some labor unions are stupid. I don't get it. Why don't they behave as if they need each other, and work together with respect?
