2008 is all guesswork. 2006 is what counts. Remember, the congress and senate are just as powerful as the White House, if not more so. The Delay-Frist congressional regimes are crumbling into bits. The polls show about a 10% change from 2002 favoring democrats next year. That is more than enough to to swing 25% of the congressional elections.

All the Santorum types (rightwingers in blue or purple states) will be gone. So will the corrupt Delay-Abramoff cronies, including Delay himself. And most of the GOP candidates will be running away from Bush. So Bush himself can't help them. This will also affect their fundraising.

Those left standing after 2006 in the GOP senate will include McCain, Hagel, Lott and Lindsay Graham. Those will be the new leaders, making the GOP more moderate. The far right guys will all lose power, following Frist either out the door or down a few notches.
