fly reports rumours. I don't believe the rumour in the context of Sonus, I think it has to do with some other vendor equipment issues at Cingular, but probably the primary concern for the future of SONS is will lead network vendors like Nortel and Lucent be able to leverage their position to push out a vendor like Sonus, or keep them out completely. For customers like AOL, Google(I hope), Earthlink, etc without legacy networks I am very confident Sonus becomes almost the industry standard. The big incumbent vendors are a much tougher call. The position Sonus has in Japan, the win with DT against domestic supplier Siemens, and their comments about additional Tier1's in Europe would seem to indicate Sonus can and will be able to maintain their position in places Lucent is targeting, but the market sure does not agree today.

If it weren't such a depressing day for the stock, I could almost take the above report to indicate it is Alcatel softswitches that are the problem and Sonus may well be the solution.
