Why I'm less worried about the Ayatollahs in Iran (outside of their desire to create a regional nuclear arms race) is that they are facing increasing demographic pressure and social criticism from their young population.

Having known nothing but their Islamic Revolution, your Iranian people have few illusions about the "glory" of an Islamic republic to cure the economic and social desires.

It's elsewhere in the Arab middle-east that I worry about the more violent Takfirist style of Wahabbism/Salafism..

But overall, I agree with your post.
