Extortion is a crime -- a public officer or official taking something of value not due by the use of illegal force or the threat of illegal force.

I suppose your argument is that you'd rather not pay for what you get, but the same could be said about anything. You'd rather not pay for food, clothing, shelter, etc., but nobody is going to give it to you for free. That doesn't make it extortion.
