Hillary will have to win another term in the Senate in 06 and do so convincingly to be a serious candidate for the Dem nomination in 08. If she does retain her seat and do so strongly, then the polls will begin to make more sense.

Hillary came to New York with a lot of baggage. She was a carpet bagger. She struggled to beat a nobody.

Guess what?

Hillary will win big in New York to retain her senate seat.

Her competition is in meltdown and it is unlikely they could replace her competition with a credible replacement candidate.

Hillary has worked very quietly and effectively in New York to shore up her base and reaching out to expand her base.

If she can make it in New York, she can make it anywhere. She does her homework and she is good at what she does. She will be tough for the Republicans to beat in a national election. I think they know that. The swiftboat types know it and they will be out to get her. These people are also good at what they do. It is inevitable. It does not matter who the Republicans put up. It will be a close one.
