15, 1997--Actuate(R) Software Corp., the leader in
Enterprise Reporting, today announced that Ascend
Communications Inc., a leading worldwide provider of remote
networking solutions for service providers worldwide, will
integrate the Actuate Reporting System to deliver an
Enterprise Reporting solution to Ascend customers and
partners.
Ascend will integrate Actuate's ReportCast(TM) products
into its new Statistics and Report Server network management
application. This application, which is part of the
NavisXtend(TM) family of applications, utilizes ReportCast's
webcasting technology to deliver graphical information about
network activity to Ascend's service provider customers.
ReportCast will help Ascend's service provider customers
more effectively evaluate network data and monitor overall
network performance by converting network data from the
Statistics Server into tables and graphs.
Service providers will be able to use these tables and graphs
internally for network monitoring and strategic planning or
provide these graphical reports to their customers to help them
monitor their own network performance. Ascend's service
provider customers will also be able to resell Actuate to their
own customers.
According to Pam Dodge, Ascend's director of network
management product marketing, "We are extending the
benefits of Actuate to our customers and partners through a
new value-added application. It will allow them, for the first
time, to graphically represent network performance and
utilization statistics and distribute reports over the Internet so
they can do more rapid analysis."
