I'm right brained, too, but the test is too simplistic.
For example -- I am working on a legal brief. Now, briefs are arranged in a very heirarchical manner. But that's not how I write them.
I write them in chunks, segments, little bite-sized bits, and then I string the pieces together in a logical fashion like stringing a necklace. I think that's a right-brained way of achieving a left-brained product.
My sense is that code writers use a similar approach to writing code -- even though the finished product is linear, the various pieces can be written in little chunks, out of sequence, and then strung together in sequence.
I have all my office tools handy on my desk. Does that qualify as organized, or disorganized? Is a clean desk a neat desk? Or is a clean desk, without all the tools you need to get the job done, the sign of a pointy-haired boss who delegates everything?
I worked for many years as a graphic artist, and kept all my tools in a little red toolbox. I still have the same toolbox, with all my tools still in it. Exacto knife and blades, paintbrushes, ink, engineering pens, and so forth.
Was that occupation/profession left-brained, or right-brained?
The simple answer is "yes." |
