06:24 TXN Texas Instruments profit, sales may reach high end of forecast - Bloomberg.com (33.29 )

Bloomberg.com reports that TXN may say revenue and profit this quarter are headed for the high end of its forecasts as demand soars. The company's updated estimates today will probably call for sales of about $3.6 billion, said Charles Glavin, an analyst at Needham & Co. who's among the most accurate in StarMine Corp.'s rankings. Texas Instruments projected $3.42 billion to $3.72 billion on Oct. 24. Glavin sees net income of 40 cents a share, the upper limit of the company's range of 36 cents to 40 cents. New mobile phones that surf the Internet and play videos propelled sales in the holiday shopping season. Chief Executive Rich Templeton sped up production to enable the company to fill the orders. That eased concerns that demand would outstrip the Dallas-based company's manufacturing capacity. Texas Instruments will update its forecast for the quarter after the close of New York trading today.
