Personal gain is fine, we all want to live and live well. It is the willingness to sacrifice other's well-being for personal gain that creates the problem. No one who has some slight experience of life would expect sainthood from a political animal, but citizens have a right (and obligation) to demand transparency of intention and transaction from those who claim to represent them.

Thus, I would nominate two (although there are many more):

The late Wellstone and very much alive McCain (whose latest book quite illustrates my points).

Must become productive, now.
