Ariel is definitely not a competitor, but rather, a potential
customer. Ariel often has resold third party software with
their COTS VME DSP boards (typically SPOX from Spectron
Microsystems), and third party development tools from TI,
White Mountain DSP, etc. While Ariel cut its teeth on the
COTS DSP business, the company's emphasis is now rapidly
shifting away from COTS (it's a pretty limited market), and
toward remote access servers. See:

ariel.com

for more on this.

Steve

PS - full disclosure: Ariel is a client of mine!
