Lifetime of the battery. Sears tends toward the 3 year warranty with a partial pay back several months more.

The problem is lead-acid batteries have the plates corrode over time. You can make them bigger, larger plate area, or if you have a 200 amp charger, boil the corrosion off. The problem with the latter is the batteries tend to explode sending acid everywhere.
