The biggest problem I see is done by the people that don't think the pie can be made larger....We are going to have to decide where to draw the line however.

"We are going to have to decide" sounds like there is some controlling body determining which traditions we officially adopt and which we don't. It doesn't work that way.

People will adopt what appeals to them and leave the rest behind. Some old traditions may fall into disfavor while others take hold. It just happens. The market decides. Unless we artificially control it, that is. And when we artificially control, we can only screw things up.

Potatoes, buttermilk, and mushrooms for Christmas Eve never caught hold. Christmas trees did. There are winners and losers. So be it. <g>

I would oppose any authoritarian determination of which traditions we adopt and which we pass up.

I don't see that at all. The number of traditions that people can practice is limited only by the number of people available to practice them.
