haq, it's my recollection that Kerry volunteered for Swiftboat duty at a time they were primarily used for coastal patrol. It was only after he volunteered for what seemed to be a nice, cushy post of duty that wouldn't involve taking hostile rounds that the Navy deployed the boats into the Mekong Delta.

I can just imagine Kerry's reaction.
