Sounds like bizarre GOP-wishful thinking to me.

What base has Lieberman got outside the Democrats? I can't see more than minimal numbers being persuaded to support him who would not in any case have supported McCain, from either party; he's so close to Zionism I can't see him carrying much of the liberal or centrist Democrat vote, including any remaining Jewish caucus there, and he's not RW enough to collect many GOP votes beyond those of any candidate who'd accept him as running mate anyway.

For me, he's a central anti-magnet - polarises people away from him. There's absolutely nothing in his politics to attract anyone left of centre, and he's only useful therefore as a more RW counter to a (relatively) LW Democrat presidential candidate. He's not going to carry many votes even then... just ask Al...
