I don't think the analysts were expecting the platform strategy to create a situation where the chipset shortage got so out of hand.

This of course will limit Intel's upside - which it can ill afford given it's poor performance in the server segment.

But Intel says they will have its act together in the server market next year when they come out with a product that competes with AMD. (Sarcasm on) probably about the same time the current boom ends.
