>>>Which Barry often did.<<

Yes he did. I might vote for him against LBJ if I had my life to live over, though to some extent his advocacy of aggression did push LBJ along to garner that last missing piece of total consensus.

Now as to the future. I would advise any young person in the U. S. to take Canadian citizenship, not to avoid public service, but to have a better life. Unless Canada breaks up into three rival countries, it's going to become extremely wealthy--possibly the most wealth per capita among major countries. Great diversity. Alberta is better than Texas (or worse, if you like, depending on what you look for) and in Quebec you have rednecks who speak . . . French! Grand Ole Opry and all. Vancouver is hippier than San Francisco. Victoria is as staid as Charleston in some ways and open-ended as Key West in others. Montreal is a great cosmopolitan city. Winnipeg is a jewel. Then there's Lake Louise, Mont Tremblent, The Gaspe, PEI. I think Nova Scotia is overrated.

And Canada is welcoming immigrants. If you can't join the Saudi Royal Family, and it's too late to enjoy wealth from the Alaska pipeline, you might be able to get Alberta citizenship.
