America's isolated stance on climate change drew thinly-veiled criticism from former president Bill Clinton, who dismissed as "flat wrong" Mr Bush's argument that Kyoto would damage the US economy.

I think Clinton is correct here. IIRC, some of the figures tossed around for the US cost of implementing Kyoto are around $300B, which we seem to have swallowed for Iraq without too much difficulty, and in a much shorter period of time.

What never fails to amaze me, is when we spend 100B for the military, all the rightwing folks point out that that 100B ends up creating more jobs in America, so its not all bad. But when we discuss spending 100B on the environment, heck its all a drag on the economy. Huh?
