You can convert between the ascii representation of a domain name and the real domain name here:

mct.verisign-grs.com

Technically, all DNS systems use the ascii version, so the browser has to make the conversion to/from the ascii version. However, some DNS related systems actually use the non-ascii version, like when you want to do a whois lookup on a .dk domain, then you have to use the iso-8859-1 character set and make an 8-bit whois lookup using the non-ascii domain name.
