If you're going to buy a used car, might as well buy your own. You know the condition, how it's been maintained and if any problems are brewing. Of course you have to start doing some up keep like maybe tires, change fluids and filters and the battery.

In my case the Jeep I bought in '95 had a $2,400 transmission problem that was fixed under warranty. In 2000 I started hearing the same noise when backing up first thing in the morning. At the same time I needed new belts, hoses and fluid changes. I looked at a new Jeep and got a deal too good to pass up.

This Jeep has had no real problems and only has 25,000 miles on it. And I like it. Bought a new battery last week and will get all the fluids, belts and hoses changed next spring.
