Re Dean Steps in it Again: Unbelieveable the MSM didn't quote Dean's remarks! While checking that on Google News, found someone did....plus comments as well.

Dean Backpedals and Steps in It Again
Dec 11, 2005

pardonmyenglish.com

Little Howie Dean is in furious damage-control mode and even as he's trying to save his sorry butt, he continues to step in it.

It would take a public relations operation of award-winning caliber to save Howard Dean from his mouth/brain disconnect, and all Howie has is the might of the Democratic National Committee, which is to say, not a whole hell of a lot. But if I were trying to save the Democratic National Committee from its leader, I think that I'd try a little aversion therapy: Fit Howie with a high-voltage shock collar, or even a shackle that could be hidden under his pants leg, and assign some lackey to follow Howie at a safe distance, staying well within earshot, to give him about 50,000 volts every time he starts saying something stupid. But apparently the DNC has yet to figure out how to put Howie on a leash and keep him there, because he was out this weekend sticking his foot in his mouth yet again, even as he tries to remove it. Witness these gems from a "rally" in Florida Friday night attended by 2,000 of the brainwashed faithful on the eve of the Cut and Run Party's Florida state convention at Walt Disney World:

"Our troops deserve better," he said. "This time, Democrats are determined to set a different course for the nation - now - to tell the truth to the American people and save the lives of American soldiers, and keep America safe.
Well yes, I'll agree with Howie on this one: Our troops do deserve better than to have the leader of a majority party in this country deem the idea that their valiant effort in Iraq will result in victory as "just plain wrong" and to be accused by the 2004 Democratic presidential candidate of being terrorists. As far as keeping America safe goes, this is just the type of rhetoric that will ensure that America is less safe and all the furious backpedaling in the world can't erase that. But Dean just keeps stepping in it. First he claimed that President Bush hadn't "learned the lessons of Vietnam". Then, predictably, he trotted out the tired old Vietnam comparison that doesn't even work:

"We want no more walls with 55,000 names of courageous Americans who were let down by their government," said Dean. "Democrats are united - we are united in our belief that we can and must win the war on terror."
Actually Howie's wrong -- no surprise there -- and if there's a party that needs to "learn the lessons of Vietnam", it ain't the Republicans: In Vietnam, we lost 58,000 in ten years --an average pace of 5800 a year. If we were on that pace in the War on Terror, we'd have lost nearly 18,000 troops by now. How many have died so far? 2,200 or so? Regrettable to be sure, but freedom isn't free and we are the luckiest people on the face of the earth to have brave young people who understand enough about freedom to know that it's worth dying for. Let's remember too, that Democrats were responsible for not only escalating the war that had an average casualty rate of 5,800 a year, but tying the hands of the troops so we weren't able to win it the way we should have been. Then let's not forget all the peacenik little hippie freaks such as Howie and William Jefferson the Philanderer who forced (wrongly) the cut and run strategy in Vietnam, that left us with nothing to show for the 58,000 brave soldiers who gave their lives than the public perception that the most powerful military on the face of the earth "lost" a war to a pissant little Asian communist fiefdom. Never mind the fact that Democrats have a track record of needlessly wasting tens of thousands of American lives in poorly planned and conducted military operations: The idea that we can trust Democrats to "win the War on Terror" should be laughably absurd to everyone by now, thanks to Howie's seditious comments and he can't weasel his way out of them now. His party is still trying to decide if there even is a War on Terror. Ask most any soldier who they'd rather have as commander in chief -- George W. Bush or pick your Democratic "leader". It isn't even close, buddy.

And here's another laugher:

"I, as a Democrat, am proud of our troops," he said. "I am proud to lead a party offering America a new direction and together, America can do better."
Yeah, I'm sure the troops believe that you are proud of them just like they believe Santa's coming down the chimney in a couple weeks. As far as the new direction goes, why is it that no one in the party, not even Howie, knows what that direction is? It's patently obvious the person who is charged with providing one -- the leader of the DNC -- is totally clueless. Howie just keeps proving that he's an amateur politician and first-rate jackass with a bad case of foot-in-mouth disease. This is great for our side: Ken Mehlman does a great job at the Republican National Committee but the best spokesman for the RNC, oddly enough, is turning out to be the chairman of the DNC. By the time they fire him, he'll have half the party converted to Republicans and I can't help but think that his demise can be that far off. If they continue to allow him to spout his idiotic drivel through next year's elections, the Democratic leadership is stupider than even I think they are and that's saying something.
