They are totally dogmatic on the subject of increasing the power of the collective.

I admit I'm not expert on Christianity of any sort, but the Christians I know are all of the religious liberal bent and they're all tolerant, big tent sorts of people, generally moderate politically, apparently secular in their ordinary life activities.

I went to a Unitarian service once for Easter when I was in college at the invitation of someone else who was stuck there over spring break. In that church you didn't even have to believe that Christ rose from the dead, or so I gathered from the sermon. You can't get much less dogmatic than that.

I would agree with you that the political left is into increasing the power of the collective. That's why I think it's important not to conflate religious liberalism and political liberalism. Attributing that collectivism to religious advocacy does not seem apt to me.
