I don't think that racism has much of anything to do with it. The problem that NO is facing is the same one that's looming for the entire Gulf coast and Atlantic seaboard. Whether it's rebuilding below sea level areas of NO or million dollar vacation houses on barrier island sand dunes, the issue is how much longer that taxpayers will be willing to bail out hurricane affected coastal regions that have been and will be hit again, over and over.

Whether or not the current cycle of more numerous and powerful storms is a result of global warming or regular cyclical patterns is immaterial. The political fallout to the aftermath of these events is going to be more and more along the lines of "You want to live there and get nailed time and again, you pay the price to rebuild".

As LB says, just a political observation. I sympathize with your situation...
