Clinton was wrong about Saddam too in 1998. But big difference in the way he handled Iraq. He took out every suspected weapons site in Iraq and put Saddam in a box. Saddam had no air force, no missiles, no known weapons systems and was effectively defanged.

Bush came in, wildly exaggerated the danger of Saddam, had his people lie all over the country about how Al Qaida and Saddam were the same thing, then skipped the tough work of coalition-building to jump right into the invasion, which was relatively easy, except the aftermath was planned so poorly that Bush actually robbed the troops of their victory for 2.5 years and got an extra 1500 of to US troops killed.

Now, finally, senior war hero leader, Pentagon pal and life-long hawk John Murtha's call for an end to the war has changed everything. Finally Bushies are talking about withdrawls and it is all beginning to move in the right direction. But make no mistake, Bush-cheney had to be FORCED to do the right thing, and they still haven't done it, they're just talking about it.
