The devestation on the island was comparable to New Orleans except for the flooding.

I'm sorry, but your message made me laugh. Flooding is a killer.

Even been flooded? I guess not.

It's like saying "Except for the rape, I had a good time."

So your message shows that you really don't understand the extent of the devastation.

We may not get back to normal population levels....ever.

I know about Iniki, I have relatives who live in Kauai; Katrina and Iniki can't even begin to be compared.

But I still haven't met your point.

I can't; it's all a matter of what you believe in, what you think is right.

I happen to think that the $250 million check to Con Ed set a precedent. We have been hit on a relative basis much, much harder than NYC was hit by 9/11, and we're a poor city, yet we don't get the same treatment. Maybe it's because we were full of Democrats and had a Democrat mayor and a Dem Governor, neither of whom I voted for, while NYC was led by Giuliani, a Republican.

I happen to think it's unfair. You don't. That's life.
