<your mistake is equating an energy shortage with inflation>

Rising energy prices are inflationary. It is called commodity inflation. Rising housing prices are inflationary -- it is called asset inflation. Rising prices for goods and services are inflationary -- it is called consumer inflation. Etc. Your mistake is to ignore aspects of inflation that do not support your deflation hypothesis.
