Daniel--Daytrading is usually highly speculative, and it's a fine line between speculating and guessing <g>. Technical indicators are very useful to me, regardless of whether I'm momentum trading (usually) or making an intraday play. You also need to have enough cash to profit from small moves, or be willing to work with options. (Options have their own peculiar risks and techniques, so don't get infatuated with the leverage and transfer your stock speculations to options without a lot of study.)

For me, the important thing is to know the companies I trade very well from every angle--fundamentals, technical indicators, investor sentiment, analyst buzz, etc.. I revolve companies slowly through my watch list, following each company in my group carefully over the long term, then opportunistically leaping on temporary oversold and overbought conditions. Whether I close the position the same day or hold it for a few weeks depends on the situation.

Good luck!
