The absolute number isnt that big, but the YoY percentage increase is the biggest all year. cellular-news.com Japan October Mobile Phone Shipments Up 32% On Year TOKYO -(Dow Jones)- Japan's shipments of mobile phones, including personal handy-phone system devices, soared 32.0% in October from a year earlier to 3.17 million units, the Japan Electronics and Information Technology Industries Association said Tuesday. Shipments of third-generation phones in October jumped 99.9% on year to 2.38 million units, according to the association. Customer demand remains strong for 3G phone handsets with music, electronic payment and other features.
