"If Europe, through the U.N. and in partnership with the U.S., simply followed the U.N. Charter, we would be living in a very different world today. That charter (Ch. 1, Art. 1, Para. 1, first sentence) states the U.N.'s purpose: "To maintain international peace and security, and to that end: to take effective collective measures for the prevention and removal of threats to the peace, and for the suppression of acts of aggression or other breaches of the peace..."

So let us objectively apply these principles to the number one aggressive power in the Middle East:

1. "to take effective collective measures for the prevention and removal of threats to peace:

This would require Europe and the U.S., through the U.N., to immediately:

a. Dismantle Israel's illegal weapons of mass destruction--nuclear, chemical and biological.
b. Forcibly remove Israel's illegal occupation forces from the West Bank, Jerusalem, Syria's Golan heights, and Lebanon's Bekaa farms. Jerusalem would then be internationalized according to the original U.N. plans.

2. "suppression of acts of aggression or other breaches of the peace..."

a. Convene a war crimes tribunal in the world court to deal with Israel/Sharon's war crimes against civilians in Lebanon, the West Bank, Gaza and the Golan Heights.

b. Remove all U.S. military and economy aid to the Zionist state.

I think both Iran and Syria would then be open to discuss beating their swords into plowshares!
