Thanks but it has been taking a huge beating the last few days because of a slow start and that they say is due to one game missing. Amazing! I didn't think that the XBox was that important to the overall scheme of things. Thanks for the alertJFD

TOKYO (AFX) - Initial sales of Microsoft Corp's new Xbox360 game console reached 62,135 units in Japan following its Dec 10 launch but a delay in the availability of a key game appears to have affected the number of units sold, a survey by Enterbrain Co showed.

Enterbrain, the publisher of weekly entertainment magazine 'Famitsu,' surveyed 3,500 shops selling the consoles.

'The slow start-up of Xbox360 is due to a delay in the launch of 'Dead or Alive' 4 (a martial-arts) game, which was considered to be killer content for Xbox360,' Famitsu Xbox360 magazine editor-in-chief Munetatsu Matsui said in a satement.

Tecmo Co Ltd, the developer of the game, had originally planned to release the title on December 10 but has now delayed the release to December 29.

Initial sales of the first generation Xbox in February 2002 totaled 123,929 units.

While Japanese sales appeared sluggish, Microsoft said it remains on track to meet its 90-day target of worldwide sales of 2.75-3.00 mln units.

The new console went on sale in the US on Nov 22.
