Bomb kills 4 U.S. soldiers near Baghdad
Sunni candidate for parliament killed in separate attack

BAGHDAD - Four U.S. soldiers were killed when their patrol struck a makeshift bomb northwest of Baghdad on Tuesday, the military said in a statement.

The soldiers were assigned to Task Force Baghdad, which handles security in the capital and the surrounding area. Their names were not immediately released.

The deaths bring to at least 2,149 the number of U.S. service members to have died since the start of the war in 2003, according to an Associated Press count.
