We approached the movie with innocence. I was not familiar with the story at all.

I liked it for several reasons. I liked that it was a fantastic escape for the children from the tragic despondency of the War in their real time.

I liked that each main character was able to face their fears, find their inner strength, and with assistance identify their particular gifts; culminating in their willingness to stand up in the face of overwhelming odds and fight victoriously for what was right.

I love stories where there is character development like this and especially when I can enjoy it at an adult level while my little girl can enjoy it at her level (Shrek 1 was like that).

I noticed the christian simbology but did not find it to be pushy. It certainly doesn't qualify as evangelistic on its own. These same metaphores appear in many stories. I liked the role Santa Claus played, but it was a fantasy for heavens sake.

I wondered about a couple of things. For example: The frozen white ice queen witch ... lol ... did CS Lewis have a frigid mate or an un-affectionate mother, wow?

Another thing I wondered about was whether or not the author of Jumangi was influenced by this plot.

Bottom line is that we enjoyed the story as a fantasy. If the churches do a roll out on it, I am glad that I got to see it before the hype begins.
