So when did "resume" (and I am leaving off the accents as I always do, due to bone laziness) become "rsum"? The first time I saw it, I thought it was just a typo, but now I see it's a trend.

Is it because of those pesky diacritical marks? And are they actually diacritical marks? Do I need to look that up, too?

Yes, they do appear to be diacritical marks but I can't remember whether the word needs

# é - accent acute
# è - accent grave
# ê - circumflex

But rsum?

Edit again. Wasn't in the wiktionary, but I put it there.;^)
