KT, I was investigation the issue of why we see small specs very active comparing to large specs in E-minis SP500.

It turned out that on January 20, 2005 they increased E-mini S+P small/large speculator classification level to 1,000 from 300. 1,000 contracts in E-minis is over $63 mil ($1,269 X 50 X 1,000), so most individual traders (besides you and I -g-)and smaller hedge funds fall into small category.

This level for full S+P Stock Index, has not changed since May 2000 when it was increased from 600 to 1,000.
