What's happening to the conservatives, Peter? Wasn't it just a little while ago all of FOX NEWS was alight with reverential praise for the reputedly arch-conservative new Pope? Didn't Bush II, the most fiscally liberal President since FDR, and the biggest expander of government entitlements since the Great Society, run for reelection with the feverent support of most 'conservatives'? (Admittedly, he ran for election to the office the first time as a 'compassionate conservative'... whatever the Hell that is. Maybe it was some kind of clue to his fiscally liberal spendthrift ways....)
