Wish that were true since I have a high and dry undamaged home and would like to be able to benefit from this.

It isn't happening because no one is buying real estate, period. And there are lots of folks moving out. There is an excess supply of good housing with no significant demand for it.

Rental real estate on the other hand is doing great. It reflects the fact that things are very unsettled around here. Until we have some clarity on what is going to happen, it will stay that way.
