how y'all doing carranza2?
Better than I deserve.
So well, in fact, that I'm feeling a bit guilty about it.
No financial hit yet.
Except for a few very minor items, the house essentially is undamaged.
Wife and kid doing well.
Still have my wits about me, though a lot of friends and acquaintances are walking around like zombies.
Very pissed at the Corps of Engineers for what appears to be inexcusable negligence in dealing with citizens' life and property. I'd sue their pants off, but they are immune thanks to an obscure 1928 law.
I'm pissed that FEMA spent half a billion dollars on trailers and yet has to deliver 90% of them 100 days after the event.
I'm pissed that Bush has not found a replacement for his inept crony, Mike Brown, as head of FEMA so that it is still rudderless.
I'm pissed that Entergy-NO was refused a $250 million grant to rebuilt the electric grid like Con Ed was after 9/11.
I'm pissed that the nation thinks that the damage done on 9/11 is somehow "different" than the pummeling we got here when it is an arm of our own government, not some Arab terrorist, that is responsible for the damage.
I'm pissed to see so many people get dicked around by insurance companies, my erstwhile clients.
I'm pissed that the rest of the nation is ready to give the Administration a pass on its inept handling of Katrina and is not willing to make W live up to the speech he made in front of St. Louis Cathedral. Now there is a rich piece or irony, a born again Prez swears to rebuild NO within spitting distance of a cathedral, then forgets all about us. Very Christian behavior.
I have not been affected in a major way, and I am extremely upset. Can you imagine how folks who have been hit by all this ignorance, incompetence, and betrayal feel? |
