At any rate, the fact remains that Jews did not suffer persecution at the hands of the Muslim world.

This is like an old Southern segregationist assuring you that the South never would have had a race problem but for "them Northern agitators".

True, the Muslim world never managed a wholesale genocide of the Jews. (Though while the Turks were wiping out the Armenians of Anatolia, they cut a fair swath through the Jews of Palestine at the same time). But no persecution? Go find any person of Yemenite Jewish descent and ask him about the quality of of the "non-persecuted" lives of Jews in Yemen, and what made the whole community flee en masse to Israel as soon as it was established. Or Jews of Egyptian, Syrian, Iraqi or Iranian descent while you're at it.

The rest of the article follows the unreality of the first statements. The Muslim world is silent at Ahmedinijad's remarks because they are NORMAL in the Muslim world, and have been for years. The only new element is that he is saying them as a head of state, and that the Western papers are printing them instead of ignoring them. For this the Israelis should send him a thank-you card.
