Lindy, President Ahmageddon has got some good points, though his plan is thin on details, being a broad brush commentary.
It does seem odd that David Irving, a dinkum historian, is imprisoned for "Holocaust Denial", which seems to me an absurd charge which would, ironically, be more suitable for Adolf's 1000 Year Reich, or a medieval Inquisition and heresy trial, than a free society where people can think and say what they like.
I've seen and read enough over my decades to know that all sorts of people lie, or are simply wrong, or exaggerating, to suit their personal advantage or ideology.
6 million murdered Jews does seem a nice round number. Do the other significant figures not matter of is it guesswork "Somewhere between 500,000 and 6 million and let's use the high number"?
Although Germans are and were very particular, for the most part, in documenting what they did, I doubt that there is anywhere a list of all those people or even very good evidence of the number.
I guess it is from boe calculations based on estimates of how many trains arrived at Auschwitz and other concentration camps, and the typical cargo, and how many left alive, and so on.
Body counts in Vietnam were always absurdly inflated, and at the time, it was obvious that they were, just in the news reports. It later transpired that the counts included the likes of My Lai and no doubt many "I'm sure I got some" numbers, to make it all look good. All bodies would have been Vietcong as it wouldn't do to report, "3 Vietcong, 11 women including several pregnant with more Vietcong ["Can I count the foetuses Chief? I should coz foetuses are people too], old ladies, 4 old men who were on walking sticks and some short Vietcong who were definitely not children; probably dwarfs.
As he said, if Germans were so guilty and admitted their guilt, and felt so sorry about it, why didn't they allocate part of Germany for Israel? Crocodile tears?
But I've already made a better offer. Israel can have a chunk of New Zealand, which has got a much nicer climate than Germany.

PS: Maybe the translation services have put President Ahmageddon on the wrong track, or got his translation wrong, because nobody says that the Germans "killed millions of innocent Jews in furnaces", though I'm sure there were some still living when put in, if barely. |
