As said, I hope the Iraq thing works out. It would be a major feather in the cap of USA republicans, and the UK's Tony Blair too though. Hard to stomach, but politics is all about compromises.

btw, the British food comment is slightly old hat. We have been in the EEC for some time now and good food standards abound. If there is a problem, it's an international one, people don't cook much anymore. They just buy ready meals or eat out. Clueless. I always loved to cook, and we have a whole bunch of good cooks here. This ain't 1945 British food ration stuff any more. We are taking it to the Italians and showing them how to cook too. But, by golly, they already know about good food and how to cook. We already know how to hammer the Frenchies, they are a done deal, but I think it's going to take some campaigning to get the Italians to learn how to cook from the British.
