People in need are people in need.

I think the "they're just lazy" argument is just an excuse to allow so-called Christians to rationalize their non-Christian type behavior in their contempt for the poor.

The United States is the richest most prominent Christian nation on the earth. Still you would be more accurate in describing America as "war-like" rather than charitable.

I don't recall Jesus making the poor and homeless pass a means test of "not being lazy" before he fed them - but I am not a Christian scholar.

Many Christian Conservative politicians would gladly cut a welfare program to buy more laser guided J-Dams– yet Jesus loved the poor and with all the power he possessed never blew anything up.
