product mail in rebate program is the most profitable program for increase sales without spending a lot of advertising dollars.

I was told rebates for the most part , speaking about mens products like motor oil , etc. almost 90% never get filed. Guys just never bother to file them, lose them, forget about them until they expire, store them away someplace to never be found again until wife makes him clean up garage.

It gives them a big lift in sales with little additional expenses other than advertising the mail in rebate discount.
