That wasn't true when Orwell originally wrote the novel. Now true, there has always been a thread, but that is true in any country. However, as you note, the past few years have seen a major enhancement of that aspect of things...

And true, Bob was a lot more colorful. Scott is pretty dry. But it is the same only tangentially related to consensual reality approach.
