Nah! You are the one that is without a clue! The trouble with the past and the present US Administrations has been that whatever is good for America has to be good for others and has to be adoped by them. Not necessarily so! All too often, beneath the veneer of exporting "good" to others is a subtle (or not so subtle) motivation for gain,, economically and politically. Iraq is a classic case in point. You sounded very much like Cheney's alter-ego: what you wrote reminds of Cheney's words, "Iraq is a remarkable success story," and "The Iraqi insurgency is in its last death throes." What a joke! What bullcrap! Only a brazen liar could mouth such words! Unfortunately, many Americans don't seem to take him to task. All this partly because they are still enjoying a comfy life but mainly because they have been so dumbed down by an inadequate education system that they don't know any better and can't see through the Bushie's falsehoods and deceptions. Don't ever labour under the delusion that America's losses in Iraq are unimportant and therefore very affordable in terms of the putative gains to be had. The fact that 2000 dead US soldiers has not raised the national ire is due 1. the dead soldiers were mostly children of the poor-and-nobody folks who lack the knowledge and ability to marshall nation-wide protests and raise hell; 2. Americans are nowadays kept busy with the indictments of top government officials and political scandals in Texas and whatnot --- the American people are now sidetracked by White House and Texas scandals --- indictment of Libby and pending indictment of Karl Rove, and the indictment of DeLay and Ralph Reed & etc & etc and possible impeachment of Bush and Cheney down the road. Does America deserve to get its ass kicked? I think so. A nice kick would hopefully jolt America from its arrogance and presumptuousness and force it back down to reality! .
